![]() One reply from "James" in Customer Service completely ignored my request to removed the funds they incorrectly applied to an adult's account, but assured me he had 2 accounts for his children and it "gets easier". With no way to communicate with StockPile beyond email, it's time consuming and a frustrating endeavor. However, in an attempt to make this overly simple to the unfamiliar investor there are few if any instructions on the individual pages for the account set up or even how the accounts function without going into the FAQ's. You're able to buy fractional quantities of stocks based on the market value at the time the recipient redeems the gift certificate funds. ![]() In summary - This is a fantastic concept and pre-purchase the site looks slick and easy to use. 3 Hours later I'm still waiting for verification. ![]() It then asks you to wait 1 hour for the account to be verified before redeeming funds or adding an additional minors. Once you're clearly set up on an account as a custodian of a minor you submit copies of your Driver's license and SS#. I initially set up an account in the 9 year old's name thinking I could be listed as the custodian, only to have to start all over again after hitting Submit and it then asking if the person listed was over or under 18. It just starts requesting name, address, etc. When you initially create an account - There are no separate instructions for setting up a custodian account vs. The minor's account is just stuck in limbo. There is no way to re-send the verification request or select it be sent to a different email address. Once you enter in an email address for an adult to verify an account for a minor. 2 emails later they finally removed the funds from the adult's account but we still can't get the minor's account verified. It then added the funds to the adult's account - Not the minors. However, if you have a StockPile account as an adult with funds of your own and try to verify an account for a minor, or add a custodial account under your own - All sorts of errors seem to occur.Īfter multiple issues trying to get a minor's account verified and set up, we were instructed by Customer Service email, to log into the adult's account, selected the minor on the left so it would show his investments and then redeemed the replaced giftcard code. Which is fine if you're an adult who is either only assisting a minor or managing the account entirely for a minor, with no email address of their own. The accounts seem to be tied to email addresses. However the gift code contained none of these characters. Customer services implied we may be mixing up either "i", "L" or 1's. A Replacement code had to be sent for the gift card. One of the purchased gift codes didn't work at all. Even some of their replacement codes when both typed or copied and pasted don't work. Only 50% of the free $5 codes worked for setting up an account. I can go into much more depth if you have questions, but here's a summary of the issues to date: ![]() I'm currently on my 9th email with their Customer Services Dept. For faster service please email." The line then disconnects. However, I have only received the message "We are experiencing higher than normal call volumes. I finally found a phone number on an automated email 87. There are no phone numbers on StockPile's website so you're forced into email. Only 1 required no intervention from Customer Services. StockPile has been a complete nightmare to work with both on the user interface as well as their customer service.Īll gifts were received Christmas Evening 12/24/17 and 2 months later only 3 of the 7 accounts have been set up completely. I wanted to start most of them out on something easy since they've all told me they find investing scary but know they need to start if they want to work towards financial independence. I purchased 7 separate gift-cards thru Stockpile for my nieces and nephews this Christmas, + BIL so he could help 3 of the children.
